Breaking News: Dr. Evil Pleads Guilty to Medicare Fraud
Yesterday, Detroit-area oncologist/hemotologist Dr. Farid Fata, aka, Dr. Evil pled guilty in U.S. District Court to several counts of health care fraud, money laundering and conspiracy.
As if the millions of dollars of Medicare wasn’t enough the good doctor was accused of misdiagnosing patients, telling them they had cancer when they didn’t and giving unnecessary chemotherapy to people, some of whom didn’t even have cancer or couldn’t have possibly benefited at the stage of cancer they were in.
“He’s not being charged with enough,” said the daughter of a former Fata patient who died of lung cancer in 2007. “He pled guilty to a handful of patients when there were thousands. We wanted to hear the details about how he was allowed to (do this).” Read full article here:

Every profession has their bad actors. But not every profession portrays itself as the paragon of public safety. TMA/AMA wants to control the healthcare industry – ok, their profession needs to held to a higher standard. You can’t contribute to a leading cause of death (estimated 440,000 people per year in preventable deaths due to medical error), while claiming a divine right to protect the public safety. That’s nearly 20% of all deaths in America per year.
That’s the kind of logic that would make Lewis Carroll scratch his head in wonderment.
That’s like saying it’s ok for the police (which are actually paid and responsible for public safety) to commit about 20% of the crimes because of all the other good, solid law enforcement they do.
If you’re going grab the mantle of responsibility you have to be held to a higher standard.
