Reza Eftekhar Also Appointed Clinical Instructor

Baltimore, Md. – Brian M. Berman, MD, Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UM SOM), announced today that Brian Morrison, DC, has been appointed the Director of Chiropractic Services for the Center for Integrative Health and Healing, the clinical practice of the CIM.

In addition, Reza Eftekhar, DC, has been appointed a Clinical Instructor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Eftkehar will also see patients in the Center for Integrative Health and Healing.

“This new position is a great honor,” said Dr. Morrison, who teaches chiropractic principles to fourth-year medical students at UM SOM. “I am excited to be able to bring our comprehensive approach to an even wider group of patients.”

Dr. Morrison, who is also a Clinical Instructor at the UM SOM, also owns Morrison Chiropractic, which has two locations in Howard County. Dr. Eftkehar is also a practitioner at Morrison Chiropractic. The practice offers chiropractic care, physical therapy modalities, massage therapy, acupuncture and health coaching.

“Brian Morrison is a fantastic teacher and a talented clinician,” said Dr. Berman, who is also a Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UM SOM. “His vision for holistic care encompasses a wide range of approaches, and I am confident that his energy and drive will improve our practice.”

Dr. Morrison completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the State University of New York at Binghamton. He graduated magna cum laude, valedictorian, from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. He completed a residency in Chiropractic Family Practice at Lindell Hospital in affiliation with Barnes and Jewish Hospitals in St. Louis. He has been in private practice in Ellicott City for 27 years, and is a past winner of the “Chiropractor of the Year” award from the Maryland Chiropractic Association.

In 2005 he began an affiliation with the CIM and was named as Clinical Faculty in 2014. He teaches courses on manual medicine and pain science. He also sees patients at The University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Institute as a member of the Integrative Pain Clinic. He recently co-authored a chapter on integrative pain management in Practical Management of Pain, 5th Edition, a key medical text in this topic area.

Dr. Morrison has been a featured presenter for the CIM’s annual Health and Wellness Conference, and a member of the Maryland Chiropractic Association, DC Dental Society and the Howard County Dental Hygiene Association. He sits on the board of the Columbia Association Medical Advisory Board.

Dr. Eftekhar received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He is the Vice President of the Council on Occupational Health and Ergonomics.
